W Hotel San Francisco

The closest hotel to the Moscone Convention Center, the 31 story, 404 room W. Hotel is a sanctuary in San Francisco for travelers in town for business or pleasure. Comfort is definitely the word here. Down comforters, featherbeds, body pillows, neck rolls, are just some of the amenities offered in this Starwood property. There’s even a foot massager under the oversized desk. The consensus is that this is the place to go when you want to unwind, when you want to feel pampered. The “Whatever/Whenever” service aims to fulfill your every wish, as long as it’s legal. The types of rooms have names like “wonderful room,”(those below the 14th floor,) “spectacular room,” which are the rooms above the 14th floor, “cool corner room,” and “fabulous room,” the next largest guestroom next to a suite. The suites themselves are “fantastic” (one-bedroom with two full baths, located on floors 23-28) and “extreme wow,” 900 square feet, with a designer living room, butler pantry and a dining table for six.

The XYZ hotel bar is another story. There is a party going on every night from 7:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on the mezzanine overlooking the restaurant, but don’t expect to be admitted just because you’re a hotel guest. It’s such a cool hot spot that you’ll have to wait behind the velvet rope like everyone else for the chance to be admitted. The restaurant serves fresh, local, organic California cuisine with menu items like Cavendish quail, porcini rubbed beef filet and Pacific black cod with smoked prosciutto. The menu changes seasonally.

Rooms start at $178/night. Valet parking is $48/day or $38 for hybrid vehicles. XYZ Restaurant and the hotel’s Bliss Spa validate parking for 3 hours for $15.
