Orchard Hotel

Orchard Hotel

This European style 1907 era boutique hotel is one block from Union Square and is very highly rated. The eco-conscious Orchard caters to business travelers offering free weekday town car service to the San Francisco Financial District, but leisure travelers are welcome, too. The Orchard and its sister hotel, the Orchard Garden at 466 Bush Street, claim to be “thoroughly green” not just “washed green,“ and that they have “never wavered in our commitment to Mother Earth.” (A side note: Mrs. S. C. Huang, the 85 year old founder and owner lost three family members to cancer and has devoted herself to creating environmentally safe and sustainable hotels.)

The Orchard was built with eco-friendly construction practices and applies that philosophy to its 104 guestrooms. The rooms are spacious, with a residential feel and immaculately clean . Comfortable pillows and beds with high quality 100% washable linens, hand crafted furniture from sustainable forests, large bathrooms with natural bath products, and a friendly, helpful staff make the Orchard Hotel a comfortable and environmentally responsible choice in San Francisco accommodations.

Daffodil, the hotel restaurant on the lobby level, serves hearty (and gluten-free) comfort food like meatloaf, chicken pot pie and fried chicken. Breakfast is served from 6-10 a.m. weekdays and 7-11 a.m. on weekends. The bar opens at 4:00 p.m. and dinner is served from 5:30 p.m. 415/343-0130.

Rates start at $149/night. Valet parking is $40/day.
