Omni San Francisco

Omni San Francisco

San Francisco seems to adopt a use what you already have philosophy exemplified by the Omni. Located in the Financial district, the historic 1920’s office building(originally a bank) was converted in 2002 to a 17 floor luxury hotel with a $100 million renovation. The Omni opened with 362 elegantly appointed rooms and has won many awards for its service. It was named by Travel and Leisure Magazine as one of the top 500 hotels in the world. Polished dark mahogany and cherry woods predominate in the beautiful lobby as well as the guestrooms. The Jazz Age influence appears in vintage touches: crown molding, elaborate two- post headboards and ornate window treatments. Pastel, textured fabrics cover the wingback chairs in the spacious, light, and comfortable rooms. Starbucks coffee is complimentary in the lobby as well as citrus water or hot cider and fresh fruit in the afternoon and evening.)This hotel gets high marks for its staff and its location at the bottom of Nob Hill, 2 blocks from Chinatown and within 5 blocks of Union Square, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the Ferry Building. The California cable car line stops right outside the Omni’s lobby. (There is some street noise in the rooms facing California Street but most people are not bothered by it. There are quieter rooms available facing the interior or on higher floors.)

Bob’s Steak & Chop House , the hotel’s award-winning restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, featuring “incredible meat, gigantic shrimp, fabulous salads, and decadent desserts.” Breakfast served, M-F 6:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. and Sat/Sun 7:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Lunch is M-F 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Dinner is served everyday from 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m. 415/273-3085. The large windows in Bob’s Bar make it easy to watch the cable cars and people passing in the daily pageant that is San Francisco. Bob’s is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday and until 12:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Rooms start at $217/night. Valet parking is $55/day with in and out privileges.
