Mandarin Oriental

Between Pine and California Streets in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel sits atop the third tallest building in the city, the First Interstate Center office building. Located between the 38th and 48th floors, the twin tower luxury hotel has literally sky-high accommodations with panoramic views of the north bay, even from many of the 158 guestroom tubs. The views are so phenomenal that each room is supplied with binoculars. A glass walkway connects the hotel’s two towers. The Oriental Suite has 180 degree views of San Francisco Bay. An elegant Asian-inspired theme extends to the daily Asian tea service complete with bento box meal (for $25) in the Mandarin Lounge and silk slippers by the oversized and elevated, ultra comfy bed. The Mandarin Oriental is also known for its superlative service.

Silks, the hotel’s intimate restaurant, inspired by the travels of Marco Polo, is located on the second floor. Diners enjoy California cuisine with Pacific Rim influences under ornate tapestries and hand painted silk chandeliers. The martinis are reportedly the best in town.
