3 Spooky Things to do This Halloween

3 Spooky Things to do This Halloween

I, for one, am 100% bummed that Halloween in the Castro is a no-go this year. Where else could I show off my Sexy Captain Planet costume if not on the streets outside of Badlands? While I cry into a bucket full of fun-size Snickers, here are three other sweet events to celebrate the annual thinning of the veil between this world and the next:

1. Ann Magnuson Plays David Bowie and Jobriath, or The Rock Star as Witch Doctor, Myth Maker, and Ritual Sacrifice; SF MOMA, Thursday night--If, like me, you associate most of your Halloween memories with David Bowie's tights-encased crotch, this event will be right up your slightly traumatized alley. Ann Magnuson, performance artist extraordinaire, gets her glam on to the tune of the Thin Man in one of SF's coolest spaces. Not to mention a glam costume contest!

2. Trannyshack Halloween; DNA Lounge, Saturday night--Queens of drag Heklina and Peaches Christ team up to take the stage once again at this year's Trannyshack. Combine a ghoulish drag show with some truly frightening dance moves and you've got the party of the year. Just stay away from any crossroads afterwards, lest the Faerie Queen mistake your fabulous self for one of her own.

3. Pride at Work Presents Havoq; The Stud, Sunday--Drag, burlesque, and social justice combine at Pride at Work's annual fundraiser. This variety show will be off the wall--and don't miss entering into the costume contest to snag sweet prizes from Dynamo, Mission Pie, and more!
