Polk Street & Polk Village

Polk Street & Polk Village

Named for the 11th President of the United States, James K. Polk, this street has an eclectic vibe with a mixture of shopping, from the basics at Walgreen’s to higher end consignment stores, book shops, lingerie, antique stores, leather shops, and jewelry stores.

Polk Street is located on the west side of Nob Hill and Russian Hill and has a micro climate which keeps the weather warmer, avoiding the frequent changes in temperature other areas of the city may be subject to.

A great restaurant for lunch or dinner is Bamboo Hunan and Mandarin Cuisine at 1441 Polk Street (between Pine and California.) Small and intimate, Bamboo has excellent service and amazing dishes like vegetarian chicken and the honey walnut prawns are to die for. It’s a great place for vegetarians and offers take-out and delivery. 415/775-3679
